Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout Is the Best Battle Royale Ever Made

Oh my God, am I in love with Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. Its got everything I could ever want in a battle royale: the mini games; the chaos; the adorable colors; the falling off. It’s like Mario Party and Fortnite made a baby, and they made this amazing game called Fall Guys.

The Fresh Take on Battle Royale

Why am I addicted to Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout? It’s because the battle royale genre has become over saturated with shooters. You’ve got your PUBG, Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Valorant. All of them are becoming stale because it’s the same crap over and over: you jump out of a plane (or bus), find loot laying on the ground or in houses, and shoot every player until you’re the last one standing. Well Fall Guys says, “Fuck that!” and made a mini game platformer instead.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout brings a fresh look on the battle royale genre. It’s similar to Mario Party in that everyone competes against each other in mini games, but the difference is that it’s everyone for themselves; there are no teams in this game. Hell, there aren’t even only four players; there can be up to 60 people battling it out for supremacy.

Fall Guys starts out with a mini game with 60 people jumping around and avoiding obstacles. Usually up to 40 people can qualify in the first round in order to move on to the second round. Depending on the mini game, it can be straightforward, such as games where it’s a race to the finish line. Other times it can be standing on a platform and and avoiding the obstacles trying to push you off. There are also mini games where you are put on teams and either try jump through the most rings, push a soccer ball to the goal, or try to keep the ball on your team’s side until the timer runs out. Oh, and did I mention that you will fall?

Try Not to Fall in Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

The most unique aspect of Fall Guys comes straight from its name. You will fall. A lot.

All of the obstacles in Fall Guys are doing their damnedest to make you fall. Every mini game that involves racing to the finish or standing on a platform has a plethora of plushy, soft obstacles obstructing your path. Some, like the windmill, will knock you off the entire map! Sure, you get placed where you can try again, but will you make it in time to qualify for the next round, or will you get eliminated and have to restart all over again? This is the magic of Fall Guys.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is the original game the battle royale genre needed. All new battle royale games will be compared to this game going forward. Fall Guys is THAT spectacular. Now load it up and go nab that golden crown! And try not to fall!

I’m Baaack

Holy shit! I’ve been gone a long time. Where have I been?

“Nebraskan Otaku! Where’s my weekly dose of otaku articles??”

I’m sorry, dear reader. At first it was merely a slight writer’s block, but then it morphed into some Godforsaken blob of depression and anxiety. Both of which are a HUGE bitch.

So to counteract this monstrous, disgusting blob, I’m going to cancel sending out weekly otaku posts. And instead I’m going to post articles…whenever I want!

“God damn it, Nebraskan Otaku! I counted on your articles being weekly! How am I supposed to know when a new one is released?”

You won’t, dear reader, unless you…SUBSCRIBEEE!

Subscribing means you will get instantly notified whenever I post a new article. This way you never miss a chance to read my superb posts (or rants).

“Okay, but how often will you be posting?”

What part of “…whenever I want!” do you not understand??

But seriously, I will be posting within at least two weeks time of each. Possibly longer. Depends on how life works out and all that jazz.

It’s good to be back, dear reader. Be sure to subscribe for all of my updates!

How to Become a Better Sniper in Modern Warfare

Perhaps you’re just starting out on your Call of Duty journey and picked up the Sniper class for the first time. Or you’re a seasoned veteran looking for tips on how to become more of a pro. Well look no further, because here are the tips and tricks to become the best at sniping.

Practice

Just like in my last post about how to become better in general at Modern Warfare, the best thing you can do is practice, practice, practice. It’s just like they say, “Practice makes perfect.”

The more you use the Sniper class, the more you’ll get used how the weapons work. You’ll also over time become better at spotting enemies to aim down the sight faster than they do. Speaking of which…

Use Marksman Rifles First

Infinity Ward definitely made the Aim Down Sight (ADS) speed in Modern Warfare slower for sniper rifles than in past games. This was either done to make the game more realistic, or it was to counter-act the 360-degree-spin-around no-scopers from games past.

Whatever the reason the ADS speed will hamper you if you are not a veteran sniper. This is because most enemies you face will be using assault rifles (ARs) or sub machine guns (SMGs) which have a much faster ADS speed. In a battle between who spots who first, it’ll be the ADS speed that determines the winner.

What I recommend is to not use sniper rifles at all in the beginning if you’re just starting out using the class. It will be much easier to use Marksman rifles because the ADS speed is snappier and faster than sniper rifles. Unlock the Sniper Scope attachment with your favorite marksman rifle and use it to become better at taking down your opponents.

Sniper Class Attachments

Once you’re comfortable with the marksman rifle, it is time to upgrade to the Sniper class. Sniper rifles have more power and have better range than marksman rifles, plus when you aim down the scope you can see further than the scopes of the marksman rifles.

“But Nebraskan Otaku, in your older post you said sniping sucks. Why are you changing your mind?”

Because, dear reader. I discovered that you can increase the ADS speed of the Sniper class through specific attachments. This means you will get the quickness and speed you need to defeat your enemies.

Here are the attachments you need for each sniper rifle:

Dragunov: 510mm Compact Barrel

HDR: FTAC Stalker-Scout Stock

AX-50: 17.0″ Factory Barrel

Note: I don’t have everything unlocked, so I’m sure there’s more attachments you can use to increase the ADS speed.

With these attachments, you will get the same speed as the marksman rifles, but with increased power.

And now for the downsides.

While the attachments increase your ADS speed, your weapon will lose points for Control and Mobility. So when you aim down your sight, you will have increased sway in your rifle, making it harder to hit your target. You will also have increased recoil, making it more difficult to line up your next shot.

Which brings us to…

Hold Your Breath

Always, always, ALWAYS hold your breath when sniping. Why?

Because you have much more control when taking your shot.

If you try to shoot without holding your breath, your chance of missing the target goes up considerably. So get in the habit of holding your breath each time you take a shot.

Reloading

Knowing when to reload is extremely important when using the Sniper class. I have made the mistake of reloading at the wrong time which led to my imminent death. Here are some scenarios for if you should reload your rifle:

Scenario 1: You have four rounds left in your five-round clip. You know that there is a high chance of seeing enemies once you go around this corner.

Do you reload?

YES!

“But Nebraskan Otaku, I have four rounds. Isn’t that enough to take them out?”

No, dear reader. I have run into too many instances when I need all five rounds to take out as many enemies as possible once I pop out of a corner. Too many times have I died because enemies are shooting at me as I’m trying to reload since I made the mistake of not reloading prior to the shootout.

Scenario 2: You just killed an enemy, and it took you three rounds to kill him. Now you have two rounds left in your clip. There could be enemies popping out at any moment.

Do you reload:

YES!

Always, always, ALWAYS assume the worst case scenario. You do NOT want to have two rounds left in your clip if suddenly three enemies pop out at the same time. Then you’re left scrambling for cover trying to reload.

Don’t make these mistakes when reloading.

In Summary:

Practice, practice, practice

Use Marksman rifles before advancing to Sniper rifles

Use the proper attachments on your Sniper rifle

Always hold your breath when taking a shot

Know when to reload

PRACTICE, DAMN IT!

Top 8 Tips for Getting Better at Modern Warfare

How You Can Trust My Tactics:

Current K/D ratio in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (MW) is 1.5

In the past games of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (CoD 4) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (MW2), my accuracy percentage was 25%. I was and am currently extremely good at hitting my targets (I don’t know why they made the stupid decision to remove this in MW. Probably because everyone cares too much about their K/D ratio).

Play an Hour a Day, Every Day

They say it takes 10,000 hours to become a master at a specific craft. Now, you don’t need 10,000 hours to become good at Modern Warfare (MW), but you do need to put in a lot of time and effort.

Back when I first played Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on the Xbox 360, I was so bad at the game I could hardly aim my gun or move around properly. Granted, it was the first FPS game I ever played, so I was bound to suck royal ass.

However, because I was so enthralled with the game, I kept playing, for hours and hours at a time. Keep in mind I was in high school during this time, so I had a lot of free time to play this game. I would play up to four hours every single day.

“Nebraskan Otaku, why the hell would you play Call of Duty for four hours every day? Didn’t you have a life back then?”

No, dear reader. Back then all I cared about was competing and trying to win. It was one of the first online games I ever played, and back in 2009, competitive gaming wasn’t even around at the time. So CoD 4 was one of the ways to release my competitive spirit.

So, based on experience, you won’t get good at MW unless you play it. A LOT.

Don’t Get Frustrated If you Die

If you’re just starting out, you’re going to die a lot in MW. You’ll probably receive more deaths than kills in the majority of your matches, but you can’t let that get to you.

As stated above when I first started, I could hardly walk around or aim properly; my hand-eye coordination was still in its infancy for FPS games. However, after playing every day for three to four hours a day each day for a month straight, I finally got first place in a Free-For-All match. I was able to go from a complete noob to a gold medal in a month’s time.

So the moral of the story is, you’re going to die a lot on your journey to become good. But you have to think long term about becoming so good you can pull off headshots left and right. Which I can do now.

Play Free-For-All

Team Deathmatch is the mode most people gravitate towards when they start their Call of Duty experience. However, if you’re not good at this game, then I would advise you to play Free-For-All first.

Why? Because when you’re just starting out, you don’t know the lay of the land, and you don’t want to have to think too hard about shooting.

When playing Free-For-All and you see an enemy, you don’t have to even think for a split second whether he’s on your team or not. All you have to do is pull the trigger. When I first went from Free-For-All to Team Deathmatch, I had a huge issue of having to judge whether the person I’m aiming at is a friend or foe. That split second decision can mean life or death.

Play Free-For-All first to become good at shooting in the game, and then slowly branch out to other game modes once your hand-eye coordination is spot on.

Learn the Layout of the Maps

At first when you start up MW, you’re not going to know where to go on a certain map. Hell, you’re not going to know where to go in your second or third match. It probably won’t be until the 20th match until it finally occurs to you, “Holy crap! I remember this spot in the map!”

Learning the layout of the map comes with time. Eventually you’ll learn where the enemies spawn in Free-For-All or where the enemy team spawns in Team Deathmatch. You’ll learn where most of the firefights occur and where most people tend to cluster. Finally, you’ll learn how to flank the enemy and which paths to take to do so.

By playing at least an hour per day, within the span of two or three months, you’ll learn about 70% of the map layouts in the game.

Use Certain Gun Classes for Specific Maps

Don’t use the same gun for every single map you play. How else are you going to figure out which guns you like and which ones you think suck major ass?

Follow this tactic: for small maps, use Sub Machine Guns (SMGs) or Shot Guns. Medium and Large maps, use Assault Rifles (ARs) or Light Machine Guns (LMGs). Don’t use the sniper class unless you know where on the large maps that you can set up shop and stay there.

You do not want to run around blindly using a sniper class in MW. The Aim Down Sight (ADS) mechanic is WAYYY slower than past games. It basically makes it nearly impossible to shoot anyone unless you have a clear line of sight on the map.

Marksman rifles are much more reliable than the Sniper class once you unlock the sniper scopes for them, but until you unlock them, they basically suck. However, when you unlock the sniper scope for marksman rifles, then the Sniper class becomes essentially useless.

With a 7x scope on a marksman rifle, you get roughly the same amount of damage as a sniper rifle but with a much snappier and faster ADS speed. This means you can be much more mobile and don’t have to camp as much if you don’t want to do so.

Know When to Reload

Knowing the correct time to reload can be the difference between life and death. If you reload too early, the enemy can kill you while you’re stuck in the reloading animation. If you reload too late, you’ll run out of bullets while the enemy is shooting at you.

The best time to reload is after each kill. This is assuming that:

A. No one is currently shooting at you

B. Your gun has a fast firing rate

If your gun has a slow rate of fire, like the Kar98k, let’s assume the following scenario:

You just killed an enemy with your Kar98k and you have four rounds left in your five round clip.

Do you reload?

The correct answer is: No.

You don’t have to reload for this situation because, being practical, you’ll either have enough rounds to get a few more kills, or you’ll end up dying anyway and start with a fresh clip.

But how about this situation:

You just killed two enemies in a row with your P90 and see another enemy coming your way. Your magazine has 20 rounds left out of the maximum 50.

Do you reload?

The correct answer is: Yes!

“Nebraskan Otaku, why should I reload? I see him and I have a bunch of rounds left to kill him.”

Wrong, dear reader. Most of your bullets are going to miss while he’s shooting at you, and because the rate of fire in the P90 is so fast, and there’s a high probability that you’ll run out of ammo and have to reload anyway while he’s getting the drop on you.

It makes more sense to find cover, reload, and then fire your P90 at the enemy.

Use Your Ears

“ENEMY IN THE CENTER!”

You’ll hear this line and several other lines spouted during the match. This will enable you to know where enemies are and how to find them fast.

If you look at the top center of your HUD,

Modern Warfare Screenshot

You’ll see it says “Barn.”

This means when they say, “ENEMY AT THE BARN,” you’ll know that the enemies are at your current location.

Use this tactic while learning the layout of the maps and you can get the jump on your opponents with ease.

Use the Minimap

The mimimap in the upper right-hand corner of the HUD shows the map layout. When enemies fire, it shows up as a red dot on the minimap. When you use the UAV killstreak, it shows the enemy location with each pass.

Make sure to glance up at the minimap every so often. In doing so in combination with knowing the map layout, you’ll be able to pinpoint exactly where on the map an enemy is located.

Really Learn the Maps

I can’t say this enough, but knowing the layout of the map is your best tactic. Once you know the layout, you’ll know the most common areas where enemies will pop out and try to shoot at you. If you know the map well enough, you can plan ahead and prepare for any coming onslaught of enemies that will appear out of corners or doors.

In Summary:

Play at least an hour per day.

Every Day.

Get good at Free-For-All before trying the other modes.

Learn the layout of the maps.

Use certain gun classes for specific maps.

Know when to reload.

Use your ears.

Use the minimap.

And finally, LEARN THE MAPS, DAMN IT!

Sniping Sucks in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Sniping Sucks in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

I used to be amazing at sniping back in the days of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (CoD 4) and Modern Warfare 2 (MW2). I would sit, plop down my sniper rifle, and pop off head shots like it was nothing.

I took about a 10 year break from Call of Duty after the horribleness that was Modern Warfare 3. The last Call of Duty I played was Black Ops, which had the incredible “Sticks and Stones” game mode, along with other fun gaming options.

I passed on every single CoD up until the most recent game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which came out last year. It looked fun so I thought I would give it another shot after 10 years of skipping out.

Everything about the game is great. Except for Sniping.

SNIPING. SUCKS. HORRIBLE. BALLS.

No Good Sniping Maps

I NEED WIDE OPEN MAPS!

Bring back Afghan, Highrise, and Wasteland, or at least design maps that are similar.

Afghan

Afghan Modern Warfare 2 Map

Afghan had lots of areas for sniping, wide open spaces, and it didn’t have stupid objects blocking your line of sight.

Highrise

Highrise Modern Warfare 2 Map

Highrise was big and wide open, and had areas you could climb and camp out on while sniping.

Wasteland

Wasteland Modern Warfare 2 Map

Wasteland was even more wide open. Even though it was flat, it was perfect for sniping since there were lots of hiding places with no annoying objects hindering my field of view.

Aim Down Sight Speed

What the hell happened with the Aim Down Sight (ADS) for snipers? It’s twice as slow as it used to be when I last played a CoD game. How the hell am I supposed to get a kill with a sniper rifle when every other gun in the game has a faster ADS and can also kill me from far away?

Yeah, the developers probably made it like this to make the game more realistic; you can’t aim down your sniper scope in real life super fast like in MW2.

But God damn! I can’t kill anyone because it’s so damn slow!

I gave up on using sniper rifles and switched to marksman rifles; I get the same snappy ADS speed like in old games but with roughly the same amount of power as a sniper rifle. Snipers are pretty much useless now.

Bullet Drop

You know what’s bullshit? Me, aiming down the sight of my sniper rifle, being unable to hit the guy I’m aiming at from 500 feet away because of bullet drop.

But since he can see the glint of my sniper scope in the sun, and since his assault rifle magically doesn’t have any bullet drop, he kills me from 500 feet away just aiming straight at me. What in the ungodly fuck is that bullshit?

If they’re going to make sniper rifles have bullet drop, make every other gun also have bullet drop. Why should my beloved sniper rifle become worthless just to please those assault rifle assholes?

Okay, rant over.
